Background

Dr. Butun received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Hacettepe University in 2003 and 2006, respectively. He received another M.Sc. and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida in 2009 and 2013, respectively. In years between 2014 and 2015, he worked as an Assistant Professor for Department of Mechatronics Engineering at Bursa Technical University. In 2016, he has worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow for Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Delaware.

Area of interest

Dr. Butun's research interests include computer networks, wireless communications, cryptography, network security and intrusion detection.

Current research

Dr. Butun is currently working on security assessment of Internet of Things along with development of protocols and algorithms related to authentication, access control and trust management.
