Tim Segerberg

Doktorand|Doctoral Student

Background

PhD candidate in Political Science since October 2022. My dissertation project explores the relationship between political leaders and voters and its significance for voters' political attitudes and behavior.

I completed my Master's in Political Science at the University of Gothenburg in 2020. I also have a Bachelor's in Political Science and Media and Communication Studies from the University of Gothenburg.

Area of interest

Political psychology, voting behavior, crisis communication, party leader effects, affective polarization.

Research

My dissertation project examines the nature of the relationship between political leaders and voters and its significance in explaining voters' attitudes and behaviors. So far, one article has been published, demonstrating that the personality traits of presidential candidates influence American voters' likelihood of participating in elections.

Currently, I am working on two papers: one is a conjoint experiment on the relative importance of party leaders' personality traits, and the other uses quantitative text analysis to explore how accessible and relevant voters' perceptions of party leaders are.

I am also involved in the electoral study on the 2021 Sámi Parliamentary Election.
