Employee survey
Every second year, we conduct an employee survey at Mid Sweden University to investigate the organizational and social work environment.
Background
The Swedish Work Environment Authority’s regulations Organizational and social work environment (AFS 2015:4) are based on the risks in the organizational and social work environment that can lead to ill health and accidents at work. It is about unhealthy workload, working hours and offensive discrimination.
Based on AFS 2001:1 (Systematic Work Environment Management), we are obliged to investigate, assess risk, address and follow up the organizational and social work environment in our operations so that ill health and accidents do not occur.
Purpose and objectives of the study
The purpose of the study is to develop and improve the organizational and social work environment at Mid Sweden University. This is done by investigating, assessing risk, addressing and monitoring risks in the organizational and social work environment. The survey is not a grade but a dialogue basis and a guide for observations and conversations about the work environment.
The aim of the survey is to develop Mid Sweden University’s organizational and social work environment in order to create an attractive and sustainable work environment for all employees and managers.
New tool to investigate the organisational and social work environment
Mid Sweden University will use COPSOQ III (Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire) from autumn 2023, which is a tool for measuring the organizational and social work environment and based on a scientific basis. The tool has been developed in collaboration between practice and research and the questions are validated.
Areas examined by COPSOQ III:
- demands at work
- work organisation and job contents
- interpersonal relations and leadership
- work-individual interface
- social capital
- health and well-being
- conflicts and offensive behaviors

Result
The result of the study of the organizational and social work environment is not a grade but a basis for dialogue in the organisation.
Each manager will have a result for his business.
Each manager will receive a result for his/her business provided that more than 10 employees have responded to the survey.
The implementation process will be as follows:
- The Faculty/Government Management Team decides when during the period September 2023 until February 2024, which the survey will be sent to employees.
- The manager contacts HR who sets up the survey.
- The manager informs his employees about the survey. An information material has been developed.
- Sending out questionnaires (response period 3 weeks)
- HR processes results, compiles and adds national comparisons to the operations.
- The HR specialist will review the results with each manager.
- The manager works with the results together with the employees through dialogue within their respective operations,
- What does the result mean to us?
- Risk assessment of results and development of measures. Identify what is good and that promotes health and identify risks that can create ill health and that need to be prevented and addressed.
- Document risk assessment, action and promotion factors in the developed template in IA.
- Follow-up can take place in dialogues together or through a new follow-up survey, if any, within selected areas/scales.
