In order to increase your visibility as a researcher it is important to identify the publications that you have created or contributed to. An author ID allows you to properly link research publications to the right author. An author ID is unique and will follow you throughout your entire career as a researcher, regardless of name changes or transferral to other institutions.



ORCID is a global register with unique author IDs. ORCID ensures that finance providers, publishers and other research organizations can consistently distinguish you from other researchers. Registering your publications in DiVA includes the option to add your ORCID as well. If you wish to retroactively add your ORCID to publications previously registered in DiVA, please contact us.

How to register for an ORCID

1.    Go to
2.    Select the “Register now” option
3.    Fill in your name, e-mail etc.
4.    Start using your ORCID when submitting manuscripts, applying for grants, registering publications in DiVA etc.


The ResearcherID is a register provided by Thomson Reuters. With a ResearcherID you can link your publications in Web of Science to your author profile. You can also transfer publications from other databases than Web of Science to your ResearcherID. A ResearcherID can also be synced with an ORCID with the effect that you will only have to register publications in one of these systems. As the Web of Science database is used for citation analysis it is of importance that correct publication are linked to the correct author and affiliation.

Unlike other researcher IDs, registering for a ScopusID is done automatically upon having a publication indexed in Scopus.

Google Scholar Author Profile

Google Scholar Citations allows you to create an author profile in order to can keep track of your citations, h-index etc. The creation of a Google Scholar profile requires a regular Google account. Should you decide to publicly present your researcher profile, it will be included in the search results for your name. The advantage of this profile is that Google covers considerably more than other databases (such as Scopus and Web of Science).
