ChallengeEU: opportunities to meet
October this year means on site meetings on different campuses within our European University Alliance, both for university leadership and for the alliance's project leads.
Wednesday and Thursday of last week, the vice-chancellors of the ChallengeEU alliance met in the so-called Strategy Board. The site for the meeting was the University of Applied Sciences in Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), campus Windisch, Switzerland. As the meeting took place at the same time as Mid Sweden University's own academic celebrations in Östersund, we were represented this time by University Director Louise Beskow.
On the agenda were questions of finance and KPI indicators as well as discussions on long-term goals for 2050. The board also talked about how the students can get involved more in the alliance's work, and the establishment of an External Advisory Board with members of relevance to the alliance theme.
"I enjoyed being on site and seeing how the work in the alliance develops, step by step. You can tell that the work is taking shape", says University Director Louise Beskow.
On the Friday, the vice-chancellors and project leads met in Lyon, France to celebrate the 125 year jubilee of ECAM LaSalle, as well as for a meeting with the Management Board. The project lead for Mid Sweden University's participation in ChallengeEU, Anna Lindahl, is a member of this board. The university leadership was represented by Pelle Håkansson, Head of the Division of Research and Educational Support (FUS).
On of the main focus areas on the agenda for the Management Board was conditions and strategies for mobility as well as monitoring and follow-up. The ambitions for mobility - both for staff and students - are high.
"It is important to find simple and accessible sollutions for mobility which also gives staff and students a clear added value in their work and studies", says Anna Lindahl.
At the end of October, the leads of the alliance's work packages and tasks will meet in Brussels. During this meeting, the conditions for staff mobility will be discussed. The goal is to be able to publish the initial opportunties on our website shortly.
