During 2020, Mid Sweden University has made a number of decisions because of the development of the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the increased spread of the virus and the stricter guidelines in Sweden, Mid Sweden University has decided on new measures.

The new measures apply to the entire university during 24 November – 17 January 2021. The decision may be prolonged.
All students have been informed.

The Vice-Chancellor decides

• that the previous order of priority (MIUN 2020/2052), based on the corona adapted campus education is still valid. However, if the course or programme coordinator can use digital formats that do not require physical presence on campus, they should do so, provided that the legal certainty and the quality is maintained, and that the work effort is reasonable.

• that examinations should be offered in digital formats, provided that the legal certainty and the quality is maintained, and that the work effort is reasonable

• that the Head of Department will decide on any exception from the digital format, after consultation with the Student Unions

• that public defences of doctoral theses, and licentiate seminars should be offered in digital formats

• that if a campus/ distance student cannot attend a mandatory course unit on campus, due to local general guidelines and guidelines issued by the Public Health Authority of Sweden, the university should facilitate the student’s participation as much as possible, for instance by offering a digital option instead of the on-campus course unit. If such an adaptation is not possible, the student should be offered the possibility to re-sit the exam at the next exam session.

• that students who have external units planned, such as placement periods, education, degree projects, VFU etc. should follow the guidelines and recommendations of the organization or company.

• that all employees should work from home if possible, after consultation with their immediate superior

• that on the Mid Sweden University campuses, everyone should follow the guidelines and general advice of the Public Health Authority of Sweden. In the case of flu-like symptoms ‐ even very mild ones ‐ employees and students should stay at home, in accordance with the recommendations issued by the Public Health Authority of Sweden

• that we should be very restrictive in terms of business trips (even between the campuses) and that digital options should be the main and preferred options

• that internal and external meetings, conferences, seminars, visits and similar should be held digitally if possible and otherwise postponed or cancelled

• to encourage the Student Unions to hold their events in a safe manner and in accordance with the local general guidelines and the recommendations issued by the Public Health Authority of Sweden

• that all public areas, lecture halls, group rooms and dedicated areas for studying should remain corona adapted, to encourage physical distance.
