Mid Sweden University continues to plan for a ”corona adapted” campus education this autumn. This means that course units that are prioritized may be offered on campus, at the same time, as the distance education will continue for many students.

Last Friday, 29 May, the government said that the recommendation for distance education due to the corona virus would be lifted.  The recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Sweden are still in place, however, and this is why Mid Sweden University continues to plan what we call ”corona adapted campus education”.

Today, the coordination group for corona adapted campus education had an extra meeting due to the new guidelines the government decided on last Friday. At that meeting, it was established that we are on the right track, meaning that the university´s planning is in line with the government´s and the Public Health Agency of Sweden´s new guidelines.

The press release of the Public Health Agency of Sweden says, among other things,

” For instance, this could mean that distance education is offered when possible, like in the case of theoretical units, and that campus education is offered in the case of practical course units.”

Advice for teachers are being developed
Currently, the coordination group for corona adapted campus education is developing advice for teachers regarding how to plan and offer campus education in the classrooms while complying with the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Sweden, that are still to be complied with.

Information for students
Students have been informed of the new guidelines on the student web. The information is about the general guidelines, and that the students will get further information about their specific course or programme from their teacher.

Recommendation regarding working remotely remains
As long as the Public Health Agency of Sweden recommends all staff members that have the opportunity to work remotely to do so, Mid Sweden University will follow that recommendation.

– If all staff members who can work remotely do so, we reduce the number of contacts the remaining staff members, who need to work on campus, have. However, we will of course continue to monitor the development closely in the next months, says Eva Dannetun, Chair of the coordination group for corona adapted campus education.

New management podcast on Wednesday
On Wednesday, 3 June, a management podcast will be recorded. The topic: the planning of the corona adaptations for the autumn semester.
