Microsoft Teams will replace Skype for Business (Skype) as the main channel for telephony when Mid Sweden University changes supplier to Tele2 on 29 October.

Microsoft will discontinue Skype next year, 2021. Therefore, the project working on the introduction of the new telephony solution has had dialogues with the new provider Tele2 and internally within the university. They have come to the conclusion that Teams should be the main channel for telephony. This means that when the current telephony agreement with Telia expires in late October (2020), Skype will stop working.

The "Telia Touchpoint" system will also stop working when the university switches from Telia to Tele2.

The Office365 licenses will be upgraded to A5 level which provides access to telephony functionality. This means, among other things, that, in addition to the fact that you can use Teams for your telephony, it will also be possible to call in to meetings (in Teams).

Join Teams

At present, about 825 employees are connected to Teams.

To become connected, you need to participate in a short training via one of the champions within the organizational part of the university to which you belong.
