In March 2022, a first application for the European Universities Initiative was submitted, and among 35 applicant alliances, only four were accepted. Unfortunately, Mid Sweden University’s alliance was not one of those approved, but work continues towards an application in January 2023.

Between October 10-14, Vice-Chancellors and other representatives from Mid Sweden University and the other 11 universities  will gather in Sundsvall to begin work on a new application.

The week begins with the Vice-Chancellors' dialogues with the responsible consultant and the group responsible for compiling the application for direction and structure relative to the feedback given by the European Commission on the first application. The rest of the week, the editing team and those responsible for different work packages and tasks will meet to begin work on transforming the decision of the decions into action.

The deadline for the upcoming call is January 31, 2023. The competition for this application round is judged to be tough as only four new alliances are predicted to receive successful applications. A final call, where approximately 12 new alliances are expected to be approved, is expected to have its deadline in January 2024.
