Changing mobile phones in spring 2022

Tue 01 Mar 2022 11:40

In 2021, the rental period for all mobile phones that the university has had via an agreement with Telia ended. This means that they must be returned as soon as possible. This applies mainly to the Huawei P20 Lite, but also to Samsung Galaxy Xcover4 and a few older devices.

You will receive an email when it’s your turn to switch

In order to make the return and exchange as smooth as possible in spring 2022, this will happen in batches. When it’s your turn to switch and return your phone, you will receive an email with information about when, where and how. It can therefore differ in time when you or your colleague receive this information and summon. Instructions on how to transfer content from your old to your new phone, how to do factory reset and more can be found here.

The current rental phones will be replaced by new phones that will be owned by the university. Large-scale telephone exchanges like we had in recent years will therefore not need to be implemented in the future, which rhymes more with the sustainability approach we have within our organisation. Therefore, we would also like to ask you as a user to think about how much you need a mobile phone in your job. If you are already not using your device, we recommend that you NOT acknowledge anyone new when relaying your old mobile phone.

Phones are changed as needed, just as with computers today. It will therefore also be possible to keep a well-functioning phone for a longer period and avoid having to switch too often. The reservation is that your phone continues to receive new security updates and other important updates for functionality.
