Researchers should always think about consequences when publishing their results, but in some situations they should be particularly careful. In connection with open presentations, there is always a risk that “wrong” people will pick up the information, according to Johan Landström.
“I have attended many open meetings which has been visited by people from foreign power and listened,” he says.
Above all, this precaution is understood as research that can obviously be used in an ethical and morally reprehensible way, such as some technological innovations, but other research can also generate ideas for uses that are outside the intended purpose.
