The Research Council has decided that there will be some adjustments in the timetable and structure for part two of the research evaluation ARC21. For example, digital pre-meetings will be conducted in the expert panels to ensure that site visits are as good as possible.

− We have evaluated the first round of ARC21 and have been able to draw some important and useful conclusions. In some cases, this leads to us making some changes ahead of the second round of the evaluation when remaining research subjects and postgraduate studies are to be reviewed, says Håkan Wiklund, Pro Vice-Chancellor.

The biggest change is that the evaluation period is changed so that it is now the time period 2017-2021 that will be evaluated. The evaluation scale itself is also subject to certain changes and the faculties shall be given the opportunity to determine the composition of the respective panel of experts.

− We want to make it possible to influence implementation so that the results of the evaluation are as useful as possible. For some research areas, it may be useful to have working life representatives in the expert panel, in other cases it may be that you want to review whether the expert panel should consist of predominantly Scandinavian experts, says Håkan Wiklund.

Site visits also need to be reviewed for the next round and it also includes the more informal parts such as dinners and accommodation. Site visits will take place in week 13 2023.
