COVID‑19 — concider this

We are looking forward to a new semester where we can finally hang out again. We no longer have any restrictions, but we still need to remember that the spread of COVID-19 is still ongoing.

On Thursday, the Coronavirus Coordination Group met at Mid Sweden University to discuss the situation ahead of the start of the semester.

“We are pleased that we no longer need to adhere to any restrictions, but at the same time we must not forget that the spread of infection is not over. “Everyone has a responsibility to protect themselves and others,” says Eva Dannetun, Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Mid Sweden University’s Coronavirus Coordination Group.

COVID-19 is no longer classified as a socially dangerous disease. This means that we as a higher education institution should neither, nor may, make changes to our education in response to the pandemic. Campus training should be provided on campus and any absence due to COVID-19 should be handled just like any other sick leave.

The student unions in Sundsvall and Östersund are looking forward to once again being able to implement the kick-in for new students as before the pandemic.
“We know that the introduction week is very important for our new students. It feels very good to once again have a living campus,” says Emanuel Magnusson, Chairman of the Student Union in Östersund.

Erik Lund, newly elected Chairman of the Student Union in Sundsvall agrees.
“Awareness of infection is in a way part of the new normal. We will organise activities as usual, but of course avoiding the spread of infection remains in the back of our mind. It is important that everyone continues to follow the recommendations of the Public Health Agency of Sweden,” says Erik.

The Public Health Agency recommends that you:

  • Get vaccinated if you can
  • Stay home when you're sick.
  • Be especially careful and avoid congestion in the indoor environment if you are unvaccinated
