Work on portfolio management at Mid Sweden University is now beginning. Portfolio management is a method for being able to organize and prioritize the most important projects within the business in order to achieve the university's goals.

Portfolio management creates opportunities to involve the business in a completely new way and get an overall picture of Mid Sweden University's projects. This does not apply to research projects, but includes projects in digitalisation, premises and campus environments, as well as general university project funds (ALP).

What does this mean for the business?

"Our hope is that portfolio management will create good collaboration between different projects and promote a smoother introduction of the projects that become regular operations. The method allows us to ensure that together we not only carry out our projects in a good way, but that we choose the projects that best support our overall goals," says Anna-Lena Perdahl. Chair of the portfolio of ALP projects.

In what way can effective portfolio management benefit Mid Sweden University?

"Without well-functioning governance, we risk starting with projects that do not lead us towards our goals, parallel projects with the same deliveries or conflicting deliveries. In addition, we may fail to deliver the expected value and benefit for the business," says Helena Wallskog, Chair of the Digitalisation Portfolio.

The announcement of ALP funding is coming soon, what is important for employees to know?

"This year, we will prioritize projects that are related to our educational activities. This means that you need to write in your application how your own project idea is linked to this, says Anna-Lena.

What is the digitalization portfolio all about?

"It's an exciting portfolio, where we prioritise digitalisation-related development projects that will increase the benefits for the business in various ways. In the administration, we have noticed that we have put a lot of time and resources into maintaining what we have, while development has had to take a back seat. With the help of the digitization portfolio, we hope to be able to accelerate the development of digitization at Mid Sweden University, says Helena Wallskog.
