Information from the Ladok function
In the end of 2023, we will leave Atlas for Ladok. This is what you need to know.
What is happening in the UDAL project?
UDAL (UtbildningsDatabas Atlas till Ladok) is a local project at Mid Sweden University. Atlas, our current system for handling education information, was developed in 2005. In 2020, Mid Sweden University voted yes to a proposal for the development of a joint system support for education information. The goal is to leave Atlas at the end of 2023.
How are you affected as a teacher?
If you currently manage education information in Atlas (courses/course plans, education plans, etc.), you will do this in Ladok in the future.
How are you affected as an administrator?
If you currently review or otherwise manage educational information in Atlas, you will be able to do so in Ladok in the future.
Prior to the transition, all Atlas users will be offered training on managing education information in Ladok.
What has been done so far in the project?
The work is proceeding according to plan. What we have done since the start of the project is, among other things, that we in the Ladok function, together with various groups from the university, have conducted workshops with the following focus areas:
• processes for course and education plans
• process for postgraduate education
• process for contract education
In summary, we can briefly say that the processes Mid Sweden University has today work well, and no major changes will take place as far as we can see at the moment.
Together with INFRA, we are working to get all integrations to other systems in place before the transition.
In Ladok, there is no support for today's handling of welcome letters. Therefore, KOM is working on developing a new solution.
What happens in the fall?
We will review the process for course instances when we know more about how Ladok's functions will look like.
The work with integrations and welcome letters continues.
We use Atlas to work with the education offer for 24/25. Corrections and additions will be made in Ladok.
Before the end of the year, we will switch to Ladok and the latest versions of course plans will be transferred.
Education for users is carried out.
Atlas will remain for the foreseeable future so that we can see old course plans. The long-term solution for the preservation of Atlas information has not been decided, but some form of archiving must be done. This work will begin in 2024.
