Become a Mental Health First Aid Aid

Fri 12 Jan 2024 08:19

Learn to see early signs of mental illness and how you can help and act. The Student Health Service is now offering a two-day training in Östersund on 15–16 November. Last day to register is Friday 10 November.

It is estimated that 20-40% of the population suffers from some form of mental illness, ranging from mild worry and anxiety to more serious mental illnesses. Early intervention to help is of great importance. The Student Health Service therefore wants to educate both students and staff in order to increase knowledge about mental illness and how you can help someone close to you who is not feeling well.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is not about making diagnoses, but about increased knowledge and treatment. The educational material and the course are produced by Karolinska Institutet/NASP (National Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention). The training lasts 14 hours and after completing the training, the participants receive a certificate showing that they have completed the training to become a first aider.
The course is divided into two sessions and is given on site on our campuses.
