Call for proposals for teachers' research qualifications
Funding for teachers' research qualifications can be applied for during the period 2025-01-31 - 2025-04-15. Applications can be made by teachers who have a permanent position at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media.
Background and purpose
The Faculty Board at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media has set aside funds for teachers' qualifications with a focus on research to be handled by the Employment Council.
The purpose of the call is to work for the faculty's and Mid Sweden University's strategy and goals, such as, for example, increasing the opportunity for the development of complete environments in balance between research and education, strengthening and profiling existing environments, strengthening and developing active leadership and employeeship by supporting personal development for individuals, increase gender equality and diversity and/or strengthen existing and develop new international exchanges and collaborations.
By allocating funds for teachers' research qualifications, there is room for, for example, research or collaborations and stays at another higher education institution in Sweden or abroad, as a step towards further promotion.
Eligibility and assessment criteria
The funds can be applied for by teachers who have a permanent position at the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media. However, the funds cannot be applied for by a lecturer who conducts doctoral studies. The application can be combined with funds received within the framework of university-wide calls for research activities.
Applications that relate to the end of the qualification phase are given priority. This means a reasonable opportunity for qualification within two years. Assessment is made based on an account of how the qualification can contribute to the individual's personal development and to strengthen the environment from a strategic perspective based on feasibility and justification. In the case of equivalent applications, preference may be given to the underrepresented sex.
Application
The application is made at the individual level and must include:
- Meritorious level (senior lecturer, associate professor or professor)
- A description of the research-related activities for which the funds are to be used, with justification for how the funds contribute to the qualification, including a timetable for the qualification (of a maximum of 4 pages). Please note that funds may not be used for activities related to teaching.
- CV and list of publications
- Certificate from the head of department and head of subject with a description of the way in which the environment is strengthened by the intended qualification
- Budget for qualifications.
The application must relate to the Faculty's instructions (quality criteria) for employment as senior lecturer, professor and admission to associate professor, respectively. All of the above-mentioned documents can be found under the page Hiring staff. The application must be written based on the headings in the quality criteria for each qualification level.
Applicants who are relatively new to their academic careers and are not as accustomed to formulating their research work and ambitions as independently as is expected later in their careers, are advised to take support from their research community.
Conditions
- Applications with a maximum of SEK 300 thousand will be considered. Approved applications may be awarded a lower amount than in the application.
