Industrial communications have been deeply changed in the last years thanks to the introduction at the so called field-level of two major innovations, i.e. the adoption of Ethernet and wireless technologies. These technologies, originally developed for the home/office scenario, must face typical requirements (possibly conflicting) of fieldbuses, i.e. the need to transfer a few amount of data in both cyclic and acyclic exchanges with (stringent) time constraints. Several solutions have proposed trying to address both delivery models and nowadays are emerging hybrid solutions capable to merge the two wired and wireless worlds.
Emiliano Sisinni was born in 1975. He obtained the Italian “Laurea” degree (M.Sc.) in electronic engineering in 2000 at the University of Brescia. In 2004, he got the Ph.D. in “Electronic Instrumentation” at the same University. From 2005 to 2015 he was with the Department of Information Engineering of the Brescia University as a Researcher (Assistant Professor) in the field of electronics. From 2015 he is Associate Professor in the same department. He is currently guest professor at Mid Sweden University.
