Polarization image processing is mainly used in quality checking and production monitoring in industrial applications, for example glass production or carbon fiber production. Polarization image processing is quite different from processing of “traditional” image sensor data. We show how the image processing workflow can be implemented on a high-performance embedded system and how to obtain real-time capability.
Marcus Bednara received diploma degree in computer science from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, 1998, and the Ph.D. degree in computer science from University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, 2004. Dr. Bednara has been working as a research assistant at University of Paderborn, department of electrical engineering, and at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, department of computer science, at the chair of hardware-software-co-design. Since 2004 he is a researcher at Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits, Electronic Imaging Department.
