A warm welcome to the course Sport Science BA (A), Exercise training I, 7,5 Credits and as a student at Mid Sweden University.

Welcome to the course and we hope that you will be enjoying with us at Mid Sweden University! The course aims to provide a basic knowledge of the requirement analysis in sports as well as practical and theoretical knowledge of the different training modalities.

The course starts at week 19 and ends week 23. It is a campus-based course, which means that teaching, seminars, group work and examinations take place on the campus (Östersund).

Four weeks before the beginning of the course you will get access to your schedule Please note that the timetable may be updated until the beginning of the course and even after that if something unforeseen happens.

Before you can begin your studies, there are three things you need to do
1. Get a login for the student portal (Swedish: Studentportalen)

If you are an international student you will receive your User ID upon arrival at Mid Sweden University.
This is your most important tool during your studies at Mid Sweden University. Here, you will find information about courses, study material etc. This is also where you register for each course. All of this can be found at

2. Read through the current course syllabus

In the course syllabus, there is information about the course literature and other important things about the course for both teachers and students.

3. Register for the course

You must register for all of the courses you want to take during the semester. You do this in the Student Portal by clicking on the link “My Studies”, and then “Register on course”. You can register no earlier than two working days before the beginning of the course. It is important that you register for each course.

Course information
The course consists of two parts
Part 1 (6,0 credits)
- Basic training principles
- Training for children and adolescents, Age adapted training and Training for elderly
- Sport's requirement profile/analysis
Part 2 (1,5 credits)
- The demonstration and practical exercises for training of strength, endurance, speed and flexibility abilities
