Postdoc position in Resilient Edge Computing and Networking

Mittuniversitetet, Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering

At the department, education is conducted in the subjects of computer engineering, electronics, electrical engineering and sound production. The research at the department takes place at the research center Sensible Things that Communicate (www.miun.se/stc) and deals with sensor-based systems and services for use within the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.

Job description
The postdoctoral researcher will work within the project ResilientEdge, a collaborative initiative between Mid Sweden University and the University of Oulu, Finland. This project focuses on advancing research in resilient infrastructure and services in a world with insecure and unstable Internet connectivity. The responsibilities include conducting research and developing solutions for future resilient networks and resilient distributed services, including evaluating vulnerabilities and implementing protection mechanisms against threats in heterogeneous Cloud/Fog/Mist/Edge environments, as well as aiding enterprises in their process of employing these technologies.

The postdoctoral researcher will work with advanced methods to analyze, identify, and improve resilience of next generation networks. Including requirements capturing from SME partners, developing resilient scalable edge platform architectures, implementing AI for resilient infrastructure, resilient distributed inference, and hyperlocal computations with tiny edge AI.

In this work, the postdoctoral researcher will also collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team, participate in research projects, and publish results in international journals and conferences. The research for this position will be carried out at the Communication Systems and Networking research group at the STC research centre, in close collaboration with international academy and industrial partners. Collaboration with industry partners and research institutes is therefore an important part of the work, and teaching opportunities may be available depending on the scope of the project.
