Welcome to the course Turismvetenskap AV, Kvantitativa metoder i turism and as a student at Mid Sweden University.
We are very happy that you are joining the course Quantitative Methods in Tourism and we hope that you will enjoy your time with us during your studies! My name is Kai Kronenberg and will be the course responsible. Together with my colleagues Samudika Weliweriyage and Anna Hübner we are looking forward to have this course together.

This is a campus-based course and all lectures and labs will be held on campus. Since the course starts in week 51 right before the Christmas holidays and stretches into 2026, we have to be a bit pragmatic with the schedules and assignments. Remember, there is no official Christmas break for courses that run during this period.
However, the idea is to have all lectures and practical laboratories in week 51, before the holiday period. Thus, you are equipped with everything you need to work on the assignments by yourself from anywhere you wish.
Closer to the course start, you will receive more information about the course content and schedule.
Schedule
Four weeks before the start of the course, when you have created you MiunID (student account), you will see your schedule.
Please note that the schedule is updated until the start of the course and there may be changes thereafter if something unforeseen occurs.

Then you will receive the schedule closer to the start of the course from your course coordinator.
System requirements for various software
Many of the digital tools of the education do not work on ChromeBooks. For example, you cannot use Microsoft 365 programs with full functionality on a Chromebook, for this you need a computer with Windows or MacOSX. This also applies to graphic-intensive programs in design and technology, for example. This also applies if you are going to write a digital exam. To avoid problems, we recommend that you use a Windows or Mac computer instead.

There are several things you need to do as a new student in order to start your studies. If you are a distance student with campus lectures, you need to familiarize yourself with both checklists.
