Ekoteknik

Your studies begin with two parallel courses: 

MX046G - Natural sciences introduction to environmental science, 15 credits. 
MX023G - Sustainable development – introductory course, 7.5 credits. 
When you have registered for these courses (see below on how to do this) you will gain access to the courses in the course management system (Canvas). 
 
The educational program in Ecotechnology uses a learning method called blended learning, or combined learning. This means that campus- and distance-based students will be taught as a common group, at the same times of day.  The distance-based students will be traveling to campus sometimes, while the campus-based students will almost always gather on campus, with occasional guest lectures given remotely via online communication tool (Zoom).  
 
 On Monday, September 14, you will travel from Östersund to Bydalen in the Jämtland mountains for an field study week together with our other educational programs, Ecoentrepreneur and Ecoengineering.  Here you will also be meeting the distans based students in person. You will return to Östersund on Friday, September 18.  More practical information about the trip will be given after the course starts. This week is obligatory for all students.

Coordinated learning activities will occur for distans- and campus-based students, as well as the three eco-programs (Ecotechnology, Ecoengineering and Ecoentrepreneurs for sustainable development). This allows the class sizes to be somewhat larger and thereby yield more opportunities for exchange of knowledge and experience among those studying. You will also be studying with international students, which will contribute to an international perspective regarding environmental issues. English language instruction will therefore be standard for the program.

MX023G Hållbar utveckling - introduktionskurs, 7,5 hp. 
När du har registrerat dig på dessa kurser (se hur du gör detta längre ned i detta brev) kopplas du till de båda kursernas kursplattformar (Canvas). Utbildningsprogrammet i ekoteknik tillämpar en utbildningsform som kallas för blended learning, eller kombinerat lärande. Det innebär att campus- och distansstudenter undervisas som en gemensam grupp, samtidigt på dagtid. Distansstudenterna behöver resa till campus ibland, men campusstudenterna alltid undervisas på campus, med undantag för vissa gästföreläsningar då undervisningen kan ske via ett distansverktyg (Zoom).

I vissa av kurserna sker samläsning mellan distans- och campusstudenter mellan våra tre olika ekoprogram -Ekoteknik, Ekoingenjör och Ekoentreprenör för hållbar utveckling. Det gör att klassen blir stor och ger många tillfällen till erfarenhetsutbyte för dig som studerar. Du kommer också att samläsa med internationella studenter, vilket bidrar till ett internationellt perspektiv på miljöfrågor. Det innebär också att utbildningen ges på engelska.

Det första fältmomentet äger rum vecka 38, måndag den 14 september reser ni från Östersund till Jämtlandsfjällen (Bydalen) för en fältvecka tillsammans med våra andra program, Ekoentrepenör och Ekoingenjör. Ni kommer tillbaka till Östersund på fredag eftermiddag den 18 september. Detta är ett obligatoriskt kursmoment. Mer praktisk information om resan kommer efter kursstart. 

För att ge en möjlighet att fräscha upp kunskaperna inför den första matematikkursen (som ges på vårterminen 2025) erbjuder vi en preparandkurs i matematik. Den ges på distans och på campus Östersund två veckor innan terminsstart, vecka 34 och 35. Föreläsningarna genomförs live med s.k. blended learning, där alla studenter deltar samtidigt, både de på campus och distans. Examinationen består av en inlämningsuppgift.

Kursen berättigar till studiemedel, men kan inte ingå i examen. Ange i så fall till CSN att studierna börjar den 17 augusti och att du läser 33 poäng under höstterminen.

När du registrerat dig på kursen så kommer du till kursens hemsida i Canvas. Där finns en länk till exempel på uppgifter som man bör kunna lösa inför första matematikkursen. Vi rekommenderar att du gör uppgifterna för att se vad du kan.

Obs! Om du avser att gå kursen så tänk på att försöka skaffa boken (Matematik startbok ISBN 9789144134024) i förväg då kursen är kort!

Four weeks before the start of the course, when you have created you MiunID (student account), you will see your schedule schedule .
Please note that the schedule is updated until the start of the course and there may be changes thereafter if something unforeseen occurs.

System requirements for various software

Many of the digital tools of the education do not work on ChromeBooks. For example, you cannot use Microsoft 365 programs with full functionality on a Chromebook, for this you need a computer with Windows or MacOSX. This also applies to graphic-intensive programs in design and technology, for example. This also applies if you are going to write a digital exam. To avoid problems, we recommend that you use a Windows or Mac computer instead.
