Aim
To formulate the theoretical background for the individual project and to establish a general outline for the thesis project.
Course objectives
- Be well acquainted with the tools in literature searchers based on common search engines and databases and with assistance search for relevant literature
- Be well acquainted with the literature relevant for the research project.
- Be aware of the environmental and economical perspectives of the research project
- Be able to report, motivate and argue for a well formulated scientific question.
Content
By choosing relevant literature in dialogue with the supervisor the student will acquire the theoretical background of the project and formulate the objective and aim with the project. The planning includes a general outline of which specific parts the project includes and also which skills the student should learn that falls outside the main project. Additionally the student will learn how to formulate ethical questions concerning the present work. The course is reported in the form of a shorter introductory essay, where the background and general outline of the project is presented.
Selection rules and procedures
The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
The teaching includes supervised literature studies, report writing and seminar.
Examination form
M100: Oral presentation, 1.5 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)
R100: Report, 6 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)
The examination is by a written and orally presented introductory essay.

Grading system
Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
