Aim

The course will settle the content of the thesis and result in a first full version of the sections ”Introduction” and ”Methods” in the thesis.

Course objectives

- Be able to independently perform scientific literature studies
- Be able to analysis and evaluate different theories and/or experimental methods for the scientific project.
- Be able to report, motivate and argue for the choice of theory or experiments needed to solve a research question
- Show ability to identify additional knowledge needs to address the research question

Content

The student will during the course summarize the scientific background of and choose relevant methods to perform the thesis project. The course is reported as a first full version of the “Introduction” and “Methods” of the thesis.

Selection rules and procedures

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

The studies include literatures studies, smaller methodological pilot studies, written report and a concluding seminar.

Examination form

S100: Written Report and Seminars, 15 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

Examination is done by a written report and an oral seminar on the background and methods of the chosen thesis project.

The examiner has the right to offer alternative examination arrangements to students who have been granted the right to special support by Mid Sweden University’s disabilities adviser.

Grading system
