Aim

The aim of the course is to take an interdisciplinary approach to the practice of magazine design. Students learn how to create illustrative layouts that visually communicate with typography, images and photographs.

Course objectives

After passing the course, the student must be able to:
- describe the connection and relevance of graphic elements in magazines
- apply basic knowledge in magazine design and magazine photography
- produce magazine pages and assume roles and responsibilities in a design team.

Selection rules and procedures

The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.

Teaching form

The course consists of lectures, seminars, practical workshops and critiques.
Attendance is required at certain lectures and exercises, as well as all seminars and critiques.

Examination form

D100: Design Project 1, 2 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

D200: Design Project 2, 4 Credits
Grade scale: Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.

S101: Seminar, 1.5 Credits
Grade scale: Fail (U) or Pass (G)
