Aim
The course aims to provide knowledge about the student's main research area within the subject area Media and Communication Science. The course also deepens the knowledge and development within a specially chosen theoretical orientation.
Course objectives
After passing the course, the students must be able to:
- account for concepts and approaches in specific research areas of student's interest in Media and Communication Science
- account for benefits and develop the connection between research sub-areas within Media and Communication Science and societal needs.
- apply research sub-areas in their research.
Content
The course includes specific and independent studies in sub-areas that are considered central to the student's research area of interest in international and national research on journalism, media development, public relations, organizational communication, political communication, and strategic communication. The course literature consists of selected texts within the student's specially chosen area of specialization.
Literature is selected in consultation with the supervisor.
Entry requirements
Courses at bachelor's level of at least 180 credits, of which at least 45 credits in Media and Communication Science, Journalism, Political Science, Business Administration, Sociology, or Psychology.
