“One of the most exciting parts of this internship was getting the opportunity to earn my mortgage license, which allowed me to try out new tasks I hadn’t done before,” says Lovisa. She explains that she worked with the credit process, primarily for private customers.
“It’s been both challenging and fun since everything is new. But I’m really happy that everyone here is so helpful—whenever I had a question, I could just ask.”
Lena Pääjärvi, Head of Private Market at Handelsbanken in Sundsvall and one of Lovisa’s supervisors, emphasizes that hosting interns requires careful planning and commitment. That’s why the setup with part-time employment that transitions into an internship works well.
“For us, it’s important that students have a basic understanding of our systems and processes so they can get the most out of their internship.”
The banking sector offers many career opportunities after graduation, and Lovisa says her time at Handelsbanken has definitely sparked her interest in continuing in the field.
“I can definitely see myself working at a bank after my studies. There are great opportunities for development and a wide variety of roles, which I really appreciate.”
