Exploring the Future of FinTech at the 2024 CER Symposium
On June 3rd and 4th, 24 research papers were presented at the ”2024 CER FinTech Symposium” at Mid Sweden University, Sundsvall Campus. These papers roused engaging discussions on navigating contemporary FinTech solutions, revealing both their potential and challenges.
Participants raised interesting questions about the future role of Central Bank Digital Currencies and their possible impact on digital assets such as stablecoins. Another stream of discussion focused on the transition to a cashless society and the benefits of using FinTech solutions to support unbanked populations. Issues related to risk, financial stability, and entrepreneurial finance also garnered significant attention, paving the way for future research directions.
Adding to the depth of the symposium, a "Meet the Editor session" featured insightful presentations followed by a discussion between editors (Sabri Boubaker, EM Normandie Business School; Arman Eshraghi, Cardiff University; Luu Duc Toan Huynh, Queen Mary University of London; Sofia Johan, Florida Atlantic University) and participants about publishing advanced research in the FinTech context. This provided an excellent opportunity for attendees to gain insights into the publication process and share their own thoughts.
The symposium was further enriched with three keynote speeches that highlighted recent research on FinTech, entrepreneurial finance, and financial wellbeing. These speeches, which are available via the links provided below, offered valuable perspectives and fostered further discussion.

The “2024 CER FinTech Symposium” was organized by the Centre for Research on Economic Relations (CER) and the Economic Research Foundation in Sundsvall, with support from EM Normandie Business School (France), the Academy of Financial Services (USA), and Cardiff University (UK).
