Recently we have been able to read in the national press (including Svenska Dagbladet and Dagens Industri) about the practical benefits of our research conducted at CER.

It is the company Länsförsäkringar Liv that testifies that research on artificial intelligence (AI) and responsible investments contributes to improved the investment process in the company's asset management, especially when it comes to predicting the sustainability risks of different companies.

The project, led by Jan Svanberg who is a researcher at CER, is funded by Länsförsäkringar Forskningsfond and is conducted together with researchers from Stockholm University and the University of Gävle and employees at Länsförsäkringar Liv.

The purpose of the ongoing project is to investigate how AI can be used to streamline and develop financially related tasks. It includes i.a. how AI can contribute to the work of responsible investment. Part of the project focuses on how AI can handle unstructured information and improve companies' processes regarding sustainable investments. One question is to what extent it is possible to use AI and machine learning to find patterns and connections between environmental indicators and environmental controversies. Other questions are to what extent these risk levels can be analyzed against the preventive measures that companies take and whether investors can use this as a basis to identify companies with high and low sustainability risks, respectively.
