Lunch seminar with Minna Lundgren
Welcome to a lunch seminar with Minna Lundgren under the title "When everyday support is put to the test: The welfare of the Nordic countries in crisis and war".
What happens to people who are dependent on health care, social care and social services when society is exposed to severe strains such as crisis or war? The presentation is based on a policy analysis of how Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden work to make support needs visible, maintain the functions of welfare and distribute responsibility between public actors, private providers, civil society and individuals. It shows that the Nordic welfare systems are a central foundation for preparedness, but also an important gap in preparedness: planning is often based on people who are already familiar with the welfare systems, while there are no clear forms for identifying and supporting those who are outside established support structures or whose needs arise during the crisis.
Minna Lundgren is a senior lecturer in sociology and works at the Risk and Crisis Research Centre (RCR).
