− We are well on track with the planning for the first round of ARC21, which is now starting, says Håkan Wiklund, Pro Vice-Chancellor.

The purpose of the evaluation is to provide an overall picture of research and doctoral education within the environments at Mid Sweden University and get recommendations for further development.

The site visits begin on Monday, where the Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellors, Deans and the Director of the FUS give short presentations about the University. All experts as well as center leaders, researchers and others at Mid Sweden University who are involved in the evaluation work are involved in the presentations. A few of the experts will take part via link. The first day of the site visits end with dinner on each campus.

Thereafter, the research evaluation continues with site visits according to separate programmes for each unit of assessment (UoA). The experts are divided into eight groups of five people in each group where four of the groups concentrate on the Faculty of Human Sciences, while the other four review the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media.

The site visits end on Friday with a joint summary and brief reflections from the expert panels.

The next step in the process will be that the expert panels write their reports and these will be reported to Mid Sweden University no later than 5 November and the university will be given time for fact-checking and feedback before the final report is produced.

− We have been clear that the process itself should drive quality and build on the participation of researchers and we look forward to visiting week and meeting expert panels, says Håkan Wiklund.
