Chinese universities and companies visited FSCN

Recently, the FSCN Research Centre received a delegation consisting of researchers and business leaders from the China National Pulp and Paper Research Institute, Chinese universities and companies active in the pulp and paper industry.

The visitors were welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Hans-Erik Nilsson and FSCN's Centre Director Birgitta Engberg, who described Mid Sweden University, the historical importance of the forest industry for the region and FSCN's research activities. 

The Chinese visitors presented ongoing research and development in the pulp and paper industry in China and FSCN researchers Per Engstrand, Armando Cordova and Alireza Eivazi presented ongoing research within some of the center's research groups.

During the visit, the guests were also given a tour and met FSCN's researchers in a lab environment and took part in ongoing projects in the field of bio-based materials and processes. The Chinese delegation concluded the Sundsvall visit to Valmet in Sundsbruk, where they presented their global operations and the development of the industry.

The delegation represented research institutes as well as universities and industrial companies, with a particular focus on research and development linked to the pulp industry.

"It's always valuable to meet colleagues from other parts of the world. It was an interesting visit, and fun to show our research here at FSCN. There were many interesting discussions during the tour," says Birgitta Engberg.
