Aurelia chose FSCN Research Centre after connecting with researchers working in fields that matched her interests. Through these contacts, she got in touch with FSCN researcher Alireza Eivazi and saw an opportunity to gain valuable international research experience while also discovering Sweden.

During her internship, Aurelia works in the laboratory producing cellulose films for research purposes. The work involves several precise processing steps, preparing coated samples, and working with a variety of salts to test various regeneration conditions. She will also analyze the materials she has produced using different characterization methods (AFM, X-ray diffraction).

The experience aligns well with her future academic plans. After returning to Paris, she intends to continue her studies with a focus on soft matter and biophysics.

Welcoming atmosphere

Aurelia has quickly settled into life at FSCN and appreciates the welcoming atmosphere.

"It is a very nice environment. Everyone is friendly and helpful, and my supervisor takes the time to explain everything. It is enjoyable to work here," she says.

Outside the lab, she has also enjoyed her first impressions of Sundsvall and Sweden.

"I like that there is so much greenery and nature here. It is easy to access, even from the city, and everything feels so calm," she says.

For Aurelia, the internship provides both valuable laboratory experience and the opportunity to experience a new culture and research environment.
