Alireza Eivazi appointed Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering
In connection with his docent lecture at Mid Sweden University, Alireza Eivazi, researcher at FSCN Research Centre, presented his research on engineering bio-based materials for a more sustainable future. He has now been appointed Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering.
The lecture, “Engineering Bio-Based Materials: Bridging Fundamentals and a Sustainable Future”, focused on how renewable materials such as cellulose can be engineered into advanced materials with tailored properties and new applications. The research addresses the need to reduce dependence on non-renewable resources, lower environmental impact and contribute to a more circular economy.
A central part of the research is cellulose, a renewable and abundant biomacromolecule. The research combines fundamental studies of controlling cellulose structure and properties with the development of materials for applications including self-powered devices, advanced air filtration, and an accelerated carbon capture and utilization approach via nature-inspired cellulose mineralization.
The title of Associate Professor is a recognition of high scientific competence and independent research achievements. At FSCN Research Centre, Alireza Eivazi conducts research in bio-based materials, cellulose and sustainable materials engineering.
