Defence of Doctoral Thesis with Adam Lycksam
Welcome to a public defense of doctoral thesis in Computer Engineering with Adam Lycksam who will present his thesis "From Concepts to Conditions: Bridging the Gap in AI-Based Maintenance Systems ".
This thesis focuses on using deep learning to predict maintenance needs in industrial machinery in order to avoid costly breakdowns. It addresses challenges such as the lack of historical failure data, heterogeneous information, and faults from multiple components—factors often overlooked in previous research. Through methods for anomaly detection, fault diagnosis, and remaining useful life prediction, the work presents solutions better suited for real industrial environments. The results contribute new knowledge and tools for predictive maintenance and help bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical application in industry.
