What is your research topic?

My project title is "Representation and compression of multi-sensor video for combined human and computer vision applications".

Tell me a little about your background?

I am from Sanandaj, Iran. I have completed my Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) in Tehran, Iran in 2013. From 2013 to 2015 I did my military service. After that, I joined Fiberhome International Co. as a Technical support engineer in the telecom field. I started my Master in Digital Electronic Engineering in 2019 at Shahid Beheshti University (SBU) in Tehran, Iran. During my master's, I was working on proposing a new Deep Learning method for Tracking for overcoming occlusion. Also, I was working on different image processing and computer vision projects. And, I completed my master's in 2021.

Why did you apply for this position?

During my master's I was very interested in the computer vision field and its application. Also, the emergence of deep learning algorithms and their amazing result in different fields, especially the computer vision field, made me more curious about continuing my research in this field. So, when I was looking for a Ph.D. position that fits me, I found that Mid Sweden University was hiring three P.hD. students. When I went into the details of positions I found out that the position that I am working on was the most suitable one. Also, I found that I would have a great opportunity to increase my knowledge in this field during my Ph.D. at Mid Sweden University.

What have you done so far as an PhD-student?

I started my Ph.D. at Mid Sweden University on the 1st of January 2022. During this period, I have done some literature reviews in my field. Also, I am working on applying a traditional video coding method to use in compressing Light Field videos. Furthermore, I have attended different training schools and workshops related to my research. I am at the beginning of my way and I will try to do my best to continue.

Is this your first time in Sweden? How do you like it?

Yes, it is my first time in Sweden, Sundsvall. When I was accepted for this position I did some searches about the country, people, culture, nature, and different aspects related to traveling to a new country. Also, during the searches, I found that this country would suit me great for living. Because I like winters and snow and Sundsvall gives me more opportunities for such kinds of things. Also, I should say I like this city and its kind people. Furthermore, I had the chance to see the Northern Lights during these three months which sounds great to me.

What do you do in your spare time?

I am a fan of sports such as Soccer, Volleyball, etc. So, I have started to go to the gym and do workouts and body buildings for a long time. So, most of the time I will go to the gym directly after work time. Also, I am interested in Movies and Series. In addition, I like traveling and visiting new places and if I found some days off I will go on a trip. Furthermore, I feel great when I do swimming and go hiking, especially hiking in the winter and spring.
