Innovative solutions in focus during politicians' visits to campus
Mid Sweden University in Sundsvall was visited on Monday by Sundsvall's political majority. Over 50 participants took part in presentations on research and education, with a focus on energy storage, AI-based snow depth gauges and innovative healthcare sensors during a tour of campus.
On Monday morning, 16 December, Mid Sweden University received a visit from the political majority in Sundsvall Municipality. More than 50 participants from different political parties came and received a presentation about Mid Sweden University by Vice-Chancellor Anders Fällström and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Anna Olofsson. The group was then divided into smaller groups and given a tour of Mid Sweden University's campus in Sundsvall where various research and educational initiatives were presented.
At the STC Research Center, visitors met Prof. Kent Bertilsson who presented the research conducted within the center. Kent placed a special focus on the current research in energy storage and supercapacitors, where industrial doctoral student Viktor Döhlen will present his thesis in the next few days.
Research engineer Rikard Hamrin was also present to present some of the collaborations that STC Research Center is doing together with the region's municipalities. He showed, among other things, the snow depth gauge that uses AI to measure snow load and a new pressure sensor for mattresses in healthcare that is currently being developed. The sensor is supposed to warn of prolonged strain, which can lead to pressure ulcers, which are very common and cause great suffering.
The researchers at STC thank you for the visit and appreciate the interest in the university's research and education.
