New professor and doctors inaugurated and promoted
On 9–10 October, one professor and four doctors from STC were inaugurated and promoted during Mid Sweden University's academic ceremony on campus Östersund.
The academic ceremony at Mid Sweden University is an annual event where honorary doctors and doctors are conferred, new professors are installed, and scientific and educational awards are presented.
This year's academic ceremony began on 9 October with, among other things, inaugural lectures by new professors. One of them was STC’s Peter Karlsson, professor of computer engineering who held his inaugural lecture "Cross-layer design of wireless systems for enhanced connectivity and positioning".
During the ceremony on 10 October, Peter Karlsson was installed as a professor.

Promoted Doctors
Four doctors from STC were also awarded their degrees at the ceremony 10 October.
• Mehdi Akbari Saatlu, Doctor of Electronics
• Mazhar Hussain, Doctor of Electronics
• Adam Lycksam, Doctor of Computer Engineering
• Thanh Tran, Doctor of Electronics
Mehdi, Mazhar and Adam defended their theses earlier in 2025, and Thanh in 2023. During the ceremony, the doctors proudly took to the stage to receive their wreaths, rings and diplomas.

The ceremony concluded with a banquet at the Old Theatre, featuring dinner, entertainment and speeches, where guests and relatives celebrated together with the new doctors and professors.
