Family Open House event at Mid Sweden University
On Saturday, September 27, Mid Sweden University opened its doors to the public. STC were on site in Sundsvall and showcased our research through exciting activities for both adults and children.
Competing against a robot, create windpower, checking out an X-ray gun and controlling remote-controlled cars with your head are just some of the activities that attracted many visitors to STC.
- It has been a very exciting day! So much fun to discover the university and research from the inside. It was especially fun that my son became so interested. He is curious about everything technical and wants to understand how everything works. The researchers met him so well and he thought it was especially fun to drive a radio-controlled car with his head, says Caroline Jonsson, mother to Alfred 5 years old.
When we ask Alfred about his day he excitedly waves his hands and say: A thousand thumbs up!
Rikard Hamrin, research engineer at STC, was on site. At his place people could try controlling a radio-controlled car with their head.
- Unexpectedly many people, both younger and older, came to visit us - which was great fun! It was full speed at the stations the whole time. What was especially fun was that so many younger people thought it was both fun and exciting, says Rikard Hamrin.
The children also got to try competing against a robot arm to see who was the steadiest on their hand and measure metals with an X-ray machine.
- Hopefully we have succeeded in conveying a positive image of the university that can arouse interest in studying here in the future, says Rickard Hamrin.
