During the program item, the importance of data centers for jobs, innovation and long-term community development was highlighted, as well as how the region can benefit as much as possible from new establishments.

Data centres play an increasingly important role in Sweden's digitalisation, competitiveness and green transition. At the same time, it is not obvious how the investments can best be translated into regional values. This requires, among other things, collaboration between academia, business and the public sector.

"When data centres are established in the region, it is important that we also discuss how they can create value for the region in the long term. Here, the university has an important role in contributing knowledge and creating conditions for collaboration between academia, business and the public sector," says Mattias O'Nils.

The study provides a basis for discussing how new data center establishments can be utilized and what significance they can have for the region's development. The question is not only about the establishments themselves, but also about how they can create long-term value for business, research and society.
