Many companies have begun exploring AI, yet there is significant uncertainty regarding how the technology can advance their own operations and how it will impact the industry as a whole. Over the past year, Mid Sweden University has conducted an assessment within the manufacturing sector. The findings was presented at Good Tech Conference by Mattias O'Nils, head of the STC Research Centre.

- Companies have a great need to plan production, optimize resources, monitor quality, and predict maintenance, areas where AI can drive significant development, says Mattias.

As a result of this assessment, the university and the participating companies are now planning to recruit industrial PhD-students who can translate AI advancements into practical solutions for the industry.

This work was carried out as part of the research project DIGIT sustainable digital transformation, with support from Region Jämtland Härjedalen, Region Västernorrland, and the European Union.

Good Tech Conference was arranged in Sundsvall on October 15 and set a record again with over 400 participants.
