The expansion of data and AI centers can create new opportunities for the community, but also demands on the electricity system. On December 2, E.ON's Regional Manager Lena Berglund will participate in a webinar about the development and its consequences for companies and electricity supply.

Interest in establishing data and AI centres is growing, not least in Västernorrland. The establishments can contribute to new investments and jobs, but at the same time raise questions about the capacity of the electricity grid, future electricity prices and the opportunities for the existing industry to grow.

During the webinar on 2 December, Lena Berglund, Regional Manager North at E.ON, will give her view of the development and how the establishments can affect the Swedish business community. Among other things, she will talk about E.ON's work with Growth Zones, where Torsboda is an example of collaboration with the municipality to create conditions for electricity-intensive industry.

"The development raises important questions about how we can meet the electricity needs of new establishments, while at the same time creating conditions for existing companies to develop," says Lena Berglund.

She will also describe how E.ON assesses the maturity of companies that want to establish themselves, how the permitting and expansion processes work, and what the new grid development plan entails. Another area is the increasing need for flexibility in the electricity system.

Lena Berglund has worked at E.ON for ten years and is responsible for public relations, information and media in the municipalities where the company operates in the Stockholm region and in southern and central Norrland. She has previously worked with environmental and energy issues at Energigas Sverige, Vattenfall, the Ministry of the Environment and the European Parliament, among others.

The webinar will be opened by Kent Bertilsson, Professor of Electronics at Mid Sweden University, who will give a research and development perspective on the questions. This will be followed by Lena Berglund's presentation and a conversation with the opportunity to ask questions.
