On 24 February, researchers, authorities and companies gathered at Mid Sweden University for a network meeting within the framework of the research project Senavis. The aim was to strengthen the dialogue between academia and industry and to share experiences and needs linked to anti-slip measures.

The meeting brought together actors from the entire value chain – from research and technology development to operations and operational activities. Among the participants were representatives from the Swedish Transport Administration, Avinor and Sundsvall Airport, among others. The common interest is to find more precise and sustainable methods for measuring and dosing anti-slip chemicals.

During the day, the first prototype of MORAS-P1 (Mobile Residual Anti-icer Sensor) was presented, developed within a collaboration between  Benny Thörberg at Mid Sweden University and Alex Klein Paste at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim (NTNU). The demonstration served as a concrete starting point for discussions about the technology's opportunities, practical challenges and future development needs.

Also present was Swedish Radio, which interviewed Benny Thörberg about the project and the new technology. The feature can be heard here.

- This project is a shining example of how academic research can be driven by a concrete need, and thus contribute to technological development that is good for society, says Benny Thörnberg.

By bringing together researchers and end-users in the same forum, conditions are created for research to meet real needs. The dialogue during the network meeting provided valuable feedback to the research group and strengthened the collaboration for future tests and further development.

Senavis is a collaboration between Mid Sweden University and NTNU in Trondheim and is funded by Interreg Sweden – Norway.
