Degree project at Bosch to provide smarter AI for industry
How can AI be used to understand different operating conditions in industrial systems? Through his degree project at Mid Sweden University, Italian student Marco Greco is working with real industry data from Bosch to develop energy-efficient AI solutions for the industry of the future.
Doing a degree project in collaboration with industry provides the opportunity to work with real-world challenges while contributing to the development of new technologies. For Italian student Marco Greco, the degree project at Mid Sweden University has become a chance to combine his interest in artificial intelligence with industrial applications.
Marco is from Modena, Italy, and holds a bachelor's degree in mechatronics and electronics studies from the University of Padua. His interest in industrial AI applications led him to Mid Sweden University and a degree project in AI, measurement technology and digital signal analysis.
- I am very grateful for this opportunity and look forward to working directly with applied industrial datasets from a real Bosch engine, says Marco Greco.
In his degree project, he investigates how modern AI and machine learning models can be used to identify and group different operating conditions of an electric motor under normal conditions. The models are tested on data from Bosch and developed with the goal of being able to be used in embedded systems where both accuracy and low energy consumption are crucial.
The goal is to develop a working prototype over three months that can classify different execution patterns in embedded systems. The results will serve as a basis for future research and further development in the field.
The thesis is an example of how research, education and industry can collaborate to develop the intelligent systems of the future. By working with real-world industry data, students get the opportunity to put theory into practice while companies gain access to new knowledge and innovative solutions.
