New supercomputer will strengthen research and education at Mid Sweden University
Within the framework of the DigiLab project, Mid Sweden University is investing in new computing power for AI. A new GPU cluster will give researchers better opportunities to carry out advanced calculations and at the same time give students access to new opportunities to work with AI.
- This investment is important for us to speed up our research processes, says Mattias O'Nils, head of the STC research center.
GPUs, i.e. graphics processors, are particularly suitable for the extensive calculations required in areas such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. The new cluster will thus be an important part of the technical infrastructure for the university's continued research in the field.
The investment is not just about faster calculations. The hope is also that the new technology will contribute to closer collaboration with the business community.
- We hope that this new GPU cluster can give us an even better collaboration with industry, better research and a more attractive environment for our students, says Mattias O'Nils.
The DigiLab project is funded with support from the European Union. Read more about DigiLab here.
