Lars Flodén appointed honorary doctor at Mid Sweden University

Lars Flodén has been involved in developing Observit from a local technology company to an international company. During that journey, the contact with Mid Sweden University and the STC research center has been significant.

- I would say that Mid Sweden University and STC have meant a lot to Observit, says Lars Flodén.

For Flodén, the collaboration has meant opportunities to meet people with different perspectives than those found in everyday commercial life.

- It has been great fun to get close to the academic environment and meet people who think a little differently than we might do in our everyday life as a company.

If Västernorrland wants to create growth, we must dare to invest in the engine that can create it – Mid Sweden University.

For Observit, the collaboration has been about competence, new perspectives and networks, among other things.

- For Observit, it's a lot about gaining access to expertise and new perspectives, but also about building a network and creating an environment where innovation can happen.

Flodén also highlights that several of Observit's employees have studied at Mid Sweden University. He sees the university as an important part of the region's future development.

- If Västernorrland wants to create growth, we must dare to invest in the engine that can create it – Mid Sweden University.

According to Flodén, a strong university is important for skills supply, innovation and the ability to get more people to stay in the region.

- If we want strong growth and development, we must build a strong knowledge region, and Mid Sweden University must be the engine of that.

A recognition of what has been built together

As an honorary doctor, Lars Flodén sees the appointment as a recognition of the work done together within Observit.

- This means a lot to me. But I see it above all as a recognition of what we in Observit have achieved together.

At the same time, he describes the award as something he shares with many people who have been part of the company's development.

- At the same time, this is an award that I share with many, such as owners, employees and customers.

Lars will give his inaugural lecture on 1/10 at 13.30 in Lubbesalen. With his eyes in the rearview mirror, Lars will highlight experiences from his business journey - what has been successful and what perhaps could have been done differently. He will also touch on what it is like to run a business and operate in Sundsvall and his thoughts on that development - especially the importance of having a local university and how the collaboration has affected Observit.
