Discover possibilities of the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy Network
Östersund and the region of Jämtland and Härjedalen, are part of the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy network. For you who are active in gastronomy in the region, there is now a website that shows the opportunities that this creates for you.
The Creative City Network is UNESCO's global network for creative cities. In 2010, Östersund together with the region of Jämtland Härjedalen, was awarded UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, an award that the region is still alone in Sweden to recieve. This says something about the high level of the region's food creators, food crafts and ingredients. The award is an international recognition of the region's gastronomic culture and craftsmanship.
Being part of the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy's international network opens doors for the food producers in the region. Through the network, producers, restaurants and actors in tourism can be inspired, developed and find new collaborations. Everything from local events to international exchanges and fairs creates opportunities for those who work in gastronomy in Jämtland Härjedalen.
Recently, a new website was launched aimed at those who work with gastronomy in the region. At Creativecityostersund.se you can read about the opportunities the UNESCO award and the Creative City network offers – whether you are a producer, restaurant owner or active within the tourism industry. You will also find information about events, fairs and exchanges, as well as stories from others who have participated in the network's activities.
