Leisure municipalities in Trøndelag and Jämtland are investing in sustainability for residents and visitors. The development of holiday homes has been important for growth and jobs in rural areas, but also entails challenges as the development often affect nature.
Background
Leisure municipalities in Trøndelag and Jämtland want to be good and sustainable municipalities for both residents and visitors. In particular, the development of holiday homes has been important for creating growth and employment in rural areas prone to depopulation. The leisure industry and the company involved in the development of holiday homes are particularly vulnerable here, with activities largely consuming nature.
Purpose and goal
In source, the project owners want to take the step from knowledge to practice by identifying and exemplifying in pilots how holiday home development to a greater extent can be a tool for a more sustainable holiday home development.
Four development areas where research, architects, entrepreneurs
and municipalities collaborate for new knowledge
The initiative is run together with the National Park Næringshage in collaboration with architects, construction companies, researchers at Mid Sweden University, NTNU in Trondheim, Region Jämtland Härjedalen and Trøndelag County Municipality.
