Mathematics

Mathematics plays a central role in modern science and technology and is a subject area within the Department of Engineering, Mathematics and Science Education at Mid Sweden University.

Research

Mathematics at Mid Sweden University conducts active research in several areas of pure and applied mathematics.

Education

Our researchers teach within several study programmes and courses. Mid Sweden University awards bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in mathematics.

Mathematical Physics

Our research develops mathematical methods inspired by physics and combinatorial structures, with an emphasis on integrable systems.

Complex Geometry/Singularity Theory

Our research focuses on complex analysis and singularity theory, with particular emphasis on functions and mappings of several variables and their singularities.

Our research focuses on homogenization theory, a mathematical technique used to study effective properties of heterogeneous materials using methods from functional analysis and partial differential equations.
